We do the rest
Once eligibility for a fibre upgrade has been confirmed, we’ll coordinate the booking of the installation for your new FTTP service and let you know the date.
You will typically experience slower speeds than the maximum connection speed available on your plan. Typical Business Hours Speed: This is the typical download speed you may experience between 9am and 5pm. It is not a guaranteed minimum speed and you may experience lower speeds during this period and at other times. Speed will vary on a number of factors such as technology type, plan choice and internet traffic demand.
If you’re a new or existing Vodafone business nbn® customer the offer of a fibre upgrade is available to you once your address is determined to be eligible by nbn®.
Your existing place of business must have Fibre to the Node (FTTN) or Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) internet to be eligible for a technology upgrade to Fibre to the Premises (FTTP).
nbn® is continually expanding the Fibre Upgrade network to new areas. To check if you are eligible, please call 1300 652 846, request a callback or visit a Vodafone store.
If you’re eligible for a nbn® fibre upgrade on an eligible plan then a standard installation is $0. nbn® may charge an additional fee for a non-standard installation.
The good news is that Vodafone’s business modem included in all eligible business nbn® plans work with an upgraded fibre connection.
If you already have an nbn® compatible modem you might not need a new one but it may not work if it’s more than 3 years old (you can find out more about compatible modems here). However, you cannot sign up to an eligible business nbn® plan without the included business modem. For plan terms, go to
nbn® currently advise that upgrading from a FTTC/FTTN connection can take 2-6 weeks, and sometimes longer if the installation is a little more complicated. However, once your new fibre line and required equipment has been installed at your location, you’ll have access to your new fibre connection.
While your new fibre line is being installed your existing connection will remain active on a pre-fibre Interim Plan, to ensure you stay online and continue doing business the whole time.
As a 2nd layer of support, there will be a 6-day overlap where your new fibre service and your old service (the one on the pre-fibre Interim Plan) will be active at the same time. Once the 6 days have ended, your old service will be automatically switched off and a credit will be applied to your account to cover the period where both services were active. We don’t want you to be out-of-pocket for the overlap period.
When you use the included modem, you’ll also have access to our 4G back up service if you’re in Vodafone’s Coverage Area.
For more information about the pre-fibre Interim Plan, refer to
So long as you sign up to an eligible business nbn® plan and the address you’re moving to is eligible for a fibre upgrade, you can still get it. Just remember:
1. Check what business nbn® plans you can get at the new address here
2. If you can already get FTTC/FTTN at your new address, call 1300 652 846 or visit a Vodafone store to find out if you’re eligible for a free nbn® fibre upgrade.
If you’re a new customer and you’ve signed up to a Vodafone business nbn® plan, and you don’t love our network within the first 30 days of service activation, you’re welcome to cancel.
Vodafone business nbn® Fibre Upgrade Offer
$0 Fibre Upgrade Offer
The $0 Fibre Upgrade Offer allows eligible existing and new Vodafone Business nbn® customers to upgrade to nbn® Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) (“Upgrade Offer”) when registering for selected Business nbn® plans (“Eligible Plans”).
These terms and conditions apply only to the Upgrade Offer. Other terms and conditions relevant to your service are available here.
Eligibility
The Upgrade Offer is only available for Eligible Plans at addresses determined to be eligible by nbn®. Premises must already have an existing nbn® FTTN or FTTC connection.
nbn® determines which premises are eligible for upgrade and whether the required installation is standard or non-standard. The Upgrade Offer is only available for standard installation. Non-standard installation may be subject to additional costs charged by nbn®. For completeness, nbn®’s assessment of standard or non-standard installation is determined by nbn® in its sole discretion.
The Eligible Plans for the Upgrade Offer are the Vodafone Business nbn® Fast+ (nbn100), Vodafone Business nbn® Superfast (nbn250) and Vodafone Business nbn® Ultrafast (nbn1000) (please refer to the relevant Critical Information Summary for your Eligible Plan).
Installation
The Upgrade Offer requires a nbn® installer to undertake works and install new nbn® equipment inside and outside of the Premises. The standard installation process will require either one or two visits, depending on what type of connection you currently have.
Standard installations are completed by nbn® without charge to you under the terms of this Upgrade Offer. nbn® may, however, require you to pay additional charges to proceed with a non-standard installation. Non-standard installation includes where the installation is unusual, complex, difficult, or there are safety issues, or where the installation is to a point that is not the closest and most direct path from the street. If you do not agree to pay these costs, then the Upgrade Offer cannot be provided to you and you will continue to use the existing nbn® FTTN or FTTC connection at the Premises under the terms of the Eligible Plan.
Further information about your nbn® installation can be found here, including assistance you may need to provide. You should review this information so that your installation can be completed as smoothly as possible.
Installation timeline
nbn® advises that a standard installation should be complete within two to six weeks, depending on location and technology type. These service levels are provided for information only and are not guaranteed by nbn®.
Service activation and billing
While you are waiting for your upgrade installation, we will provide you with an interim pre-fibre service (nbn100) on your existing nbn® FTTN/C connection (please refer to the Critical Information Summary) (“Interim Plan”). You will be subject to this Interim Plan at the same time as registering for the Upgrade Offer.
As your Interim Plan is on a nbn® FTTN/C connection, we’ll inform you of your maximum attainable line speed for your service once we receive this information from nbn® after activation of the Interim Plan. If the maximum line speed at your address doesn’t support the speed tier of the Interim Plan, we’ll apply a credit of $20 to your account to refund up to two (2) months’ fees of the Interim Plan that would otherwise be payable. No plan downgrade or cancellation option will be available to you in respect of your Interim Plan (but you may cancel it, along with your new FTTP service, once your FTTP connection is installed and active). This maximum attainable line speed check only pertains to your Interim Plan and will have no impact upon completion of the Fibre Upgrade or speed measurement of your new nbn® FTTP service.
Your new nbn® FTTP service can be activated after installation has been successfully completed. In any event, your Interim Plan will be automatically cancelled six days after your new nbn® FTTP service is activated. Following activation of the new nbn® FTTP service, a $20 credit will be applied to your account to refund you for the maximum six-day period during which you may have been connected to both the Interim Plan and your new nbn® FTTP service.
If you have any difficulty connecting to your new nbn® FTTP service, give us a call on 1300 801 122.
Modem requirements
If You use a modem that has not been issued to you by Vodafone, you will need a compatible high-speed modem to achieve optimal performance with your new nbn® FTTP service. You can find information about the technical requirements your modem must meet here. For all customers, the actual speeds you experience will vary due to many factors which are explained here.

Factors that affect the speed of nbn®
Speed tier of your plan
The speed tier of your plan is like a speed limit. For example, if your plan uses nbn® 25, your maximum download speed will be 25Mbps – even if your internet could potentially reach higher speeds. It’s important to note that various factors affect your internet speed. Because of this, you may not always receive the maximum speed available on your plan.
Your nbn® connection
There may be a maximum line speed for the nbn® connection at your premises. This could be due to your nbn® technology type or other factors, such as the condition of the wiring in your building.
For customers with HFC/FW/FTTP/FTTB/FTTN/FTTC technology, we’ll undertake a speed check after your service is activated. If your maximum line speed doesn’t support the speed tier of the plan you’ve chosen, we’ll let you know. We may change your plan to one that’s more suitable, so you’re not paying more for speeds you can’t achieve.
Typical Busy Speed
This is the typical busy period download speed between 9am to 5pm for business customers. This is not a guaranteed minimum speed and you may experience lower speeds during this period due to the factors discussed on this page.
Content that you access
Driving somewhere that’s far away takes longer compared to somewhere that’s close. Similarly, downloading content from overseas takes longer than downloading local content. Also, you may experience slower speeds if you’re trying to access content that’s affected by congestion. This typically happens when a lot of people are trying to access the same site.
Peak hours for internet usage
We constantly monitor the speeds of Vodafone nbn® to try and optimise the experience for our customers. However, when a lot of people are online at the same time, your internet speeds can be impacted. It’s similar to traffic during peak hour on a busy road, except that the peak time for internet use for business customers is usually between 9am to 5pm.
Our network capacity
Think of the nbn® as a highway, with each provider having a certain number of lanes that customers can use. When you drive on a highway in peak hour, you’re less likely to be stuck in traffic if there are more lanes. Similarly, the more network capacity your provider buys from nbn co, the faster your internet speeds will be during peak hours. We’re constantly monitoring the speeds of Vodafone nbn® to try and optimise the experience for our customers.
Number of devices connected
If you use the internet on a single device, it can access all of your bandwidth. But when multiple devices use your internet at the same time, your bandwidth is shared between them. This may feel like you’re experiencing slower speeds, even though it’s really the effect of reduced bandwidth for each device.
Modem type
The quality of your modem will impact your speeds, as not all modems are the same. All plans come with the NetComm Wireless NL20MESH modem to maximise the performance of your nbn® service.
Modems used on ADSL may not work with Vodafone nbn®, and modems made before 2009 may struggle to reach higher speeds.
Wi-Fi performance
Wi-Fi performance can be impacted by multiple people using the same Wi-Fi network, physical obstacles or interference from surrounding devices.
The NetComm Wireless NL20MESH modem comes with a 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi frequency. Generally, the 5Ghz frequency can give you faster speeds at a shorter distance, while 2.4GHz offers more range but may have slower speeds.
