Mesh Wi-Fi information

Why buy Mesh Wi-Fi?

Mesh Wi-Fi lets you create a whole-home Wi-Fi system through mesh nodes that act as multiple Wi-Fi access points, with the aim to eliminate dead zones and network instability. It’s a great solution for large homes with multiple floors or dense walls, for gaming and watching videos without lag or buffering, or for anyone who wants to extend their Wi-Fi signal in or outdoors. Our TP-Link HPX510 Mesh Wi-Fi system uses cutting-edge technology that will immerse your home in Wi-Fi, regardless of its shape, layout, or size.

Top features

  • Smart, adaptive network for work, play, and streaming from any room in the house.
  • One unified network with adaptive, automatic rerouting for consistent coverage.
  • Long-range coverage across multiple devices and for multiple users simultaneously.
  • Self-healing. If one node goes down your data will be rerouted so you stay online.

Quick set-up guide

First, connect the hardware:

  1. Connect the power adapter to the mesh device.
  2. Connect the WAN/LAN port of the mesh device to your modem/router’s ethernet port via an ethernet cable. This node will act as your main access point (Main AP).
  3. Verify the status LED is flashing blue before continuing with the configuration.

Next, set up the network one of two ways:

  1. Download the Aginet app on Google Play or the Apple App Store.
  2. Open the Aginet app and log in with your TP-Link ID or create TP-Link ID (you can also choose to manage device without logging in or creating an ID).
  3. Select "Create a Network" in the Aginet app then "Connect via Ethernet Cable". Follow the steps to complete the setup and connect to the internet. After completing the configuration of the first device, you can choose to add more mesh devices to extend Wi-Fi coverage.

Method 1: TP-Link Aginet App Method 2: Web Browser
  1. Connect your laptop, computer, or mobile device to the mesh device wirelessly or with an ethernet cable (The default wireless network name (SSID) and password are printed on the product label at the bottom of the mesh device).
  2. Launch a web browser and enter http://tplinkwifi.net or http://192.168.88.1 in the address bar. Create your own login password, log in to the device, and follow the set-up prompts.

Your mesh nodes should be placed away from moisture, excessive heat, and devices that can cause interference (like Bluetooth devices, cordless phones, and microwaves).

Adding more mesh node/s to your network

You can add additional mesh nodes to further extend your Wi-Fi coverage.

Method 1: Wireless Connection Method 2: Wired Connection
  1. Position the new node close to the Main AP, power the new node on, and wait for the status LED to flash blue.
  2. Press the WPS button on the Main AP and the WPS button on your new node. The status LED will flash blue for about two minutes during synchronisation.
  1. For optimal performance, place the new node in an open area and power it on. Wait two minutes.
  2. Connect the LAN ports on the Main AP and the new node using an ethernet cable – the node will automatically synchronise with the Main AP.

You can also add more mesh nodes to your network via http://tplinkwifi.net or through the TP-Link Aginet App.

Troubleshooting FAQs

What should I do if I cannot access the web management page?

If the computer is set to a static IP address, change its settings to obtain an IP address automatically. Make sure http://tplinkwifi.net is correctly entered in the web browser. If you still can’t access the page, try a different web browser and/or restarting your device. If this is unsuccessful, disable and then reenable the network adapter you’re using.

What should I do if the mesh device’s status LED remains flashing red?

Place the mesh device close to another configured mesh device until the status LED turns solid blue, white or green, then relocate the mesh device. If it is still flashing red, refer to the following FAQ to reset your mesh device, and then re-add the mesh device to the network.

How do I restore the device to its factory default settings?

While the device is powered on, press and hold the RESET button for 5–10 seconds. Alternatively, log in to the web management page of the device, go to System Tools > Backup & Restore and click Factory Restore. The device will restore and reboot automatically.

What should I do if I cannot access the internet?

Check if the internet is working normally by connecting a computer directly to the modem or the router via an ethernet cable. If it is not, contact your internet service provider. For router mode, log in to the management page of the mesh device, and go to the Status page to check whether the IP address is valid or not. If it is, please run the Quick Setup again, otherwise, recheck the hardware connection – you may need to restart your device and try again.

What should I do if I forget my web management page password?

Refer to the above steps on how to reset your device, then set a new password.

What should I do if I forget my wireless network password?

If you haven’t changed the default wireless password, it can be found on the product label at the bottom of the mesh device. If you have reset your password and can’t remember it, connect a computer to the mesh device via an Ethernet cable and log in to the web management page. Go to Basic > Wireless to retrieve or reset your wireless password.

Additional information

What is Mesh Wi-Fi?

Mesh Wi-Fi uses one or more satellite routers (nodes) to blanket a house or other dwelling with a strong, reliable signal.

Does Mesh Wi-Fi offer better coverage than an extender?

Mesh Wi-Fi is a smarter, more effective solution than a traditional extender, which just connects to one access point and won’t cover multiple floors. With Mesh Wi-Fi, you don’t need to manually switch between networks like with an extender.

What type of network is compatible with Mesh Wi-Fi?

If your modem has a LAN (ethernet) port (most do), you'll be able to use Mesh Wi-Fi whether you're on a 4G, 5G, or NBN Vodafone Home Internet Plan. All Vodafone modems have a LAN port.

How many Mesh Wi-Fi router nodes do I need?

This depends on the size of your home and how many levels it has. For three-bedroom homes with one-to-two storeys, two router nodes will significantly increase coverage. Large homes over 278 square metres may require a third router node – especially if they have multiple storeys. Our Starter Pack includes two Mesh Wi-Fi router nodes, but additional single nodes can be purchased if you need to further extend your connectivity.

Why should I choose Vodafone Mesh Wi-Fi?

Your Mesh Wi-Fi router nodes will extend your current Vodafone Home Internet signal further – just pay for the devices on an Accessories Payment Plan, which will be added to your monthly bill. If your Home Internet Plan is cancelled, you’ll need to fully pay off your Mesh Wi-Fi router nodes on your next bill.

To apply for an Accessories Payment Plan you’ll need to be an approved new or existing Vodafone postpaid customer and must agree to a credit check. Accessories Payment Plan (APP) enables eligible Vodafone postpaid customers to buy accessories and pay for them in instalments over 12, 24 or 36 months (Period). Your accessory price is spread in equal instalments over the Period (APP Instalments). Your APP Instalments will appear on your monthly bill. Under the APP, you own the accessories; you must pay your APP Instalments at the same time and in the same way as you pay for your Vodafone service even if your APP accessories are lost, damaged or stolen. Your APP spend can range from $30 up to your credit approval limit. If during your APP commitment Period you cancel your APP or postpaid plan, the balance of your APP Instalments is payable. You can pay the remainder of your APP and terminate your APP at any time by contacting us. We will notify you of the amount you need to pay to satisfy the remainder of your APP total amount and will be displayed on you next bill. Once we receive your payment for this amount in cleared funds, your APP will be terminated and you will not be required to pay any further APP Instalments. You can have a max of 5 APP per postpaid plan. Each APP can have up to 10 accessories. Not available online.
