Vodafone announces senior leadership team changes

Vodafone Hutchison Australia (VHA) has today announced a number of changes to its senior leadership team.

Networks

Network and engineering expert Barry Kezik will take on the responsibilities of Chief Network Officer.

For the past nine years, Mr Kezik has served as a senior leader in the Network team which has transformed VHA’s award-winning network and driven highly competitive network performance.

“It’s an exciting time with our 5G services being launched during this year. I know this team extremely well and am looking forward to leading the delivery of 5G for Vodafone’s customers,” Mr Kezik said.

The change follows the departure of Chief Technology Officer Kevin Millroy who, after seven years with VHA, has decided to leave the business following the completion of the landmark 5G vendor-swap program to Nokia.

“I’m very proud of the incredible work the Network team has achieved over recent years and delighted that I can leave the team in Barry’s extremely capable hands. I wish Barry and the team all the best as they enter this new exciting phase of delivering 5G,” Mr Millroy said.

Commercial operations

Ana Bordeianu, who joined VHA in 2018 as Customer Operations Director, will assume additional responsibilities, leading a newly combined sales and customer operations function to allow for further alignment and enhancement of customer experience. Ms Bordeianu will also assume interim responsibility for marketing.

Under Ms Bordeianu’s leadership, the Customer Operations team has continued to drive customer sentiment with Vodafone now having the highest NPS and the lowest rate of customer complaints of the mobile network operators.

“I’m excited to be leading this combined team to continue to enhance the way we serve our customers through outstanding service and Vodafone’s innovative products.” Mr Bordeianu said.

The change follows the decision by Chief Commercial Officer Ben McIntosh to leave the business.

“It’s been a pleasure to lead a team which has really shaken up the Australian telco market with $5 Roaming, no lock-in contracts and endless data plans. I wish Vodafone Australia all the very best as it continues to fight the good fight for Australian customers.”

Vodafone Chief Executive Officer Iñaki Berroeta said he was looking forward to 2020 with a strong team.

“It’s going to be an exciting year for Vodafone and our customers with the launch of 5G and continuing to drive competition in the market at every opportunity,” Mr Berroeta said.

“Kevin and Ben have been key players in one of the most successful turnarounds in Australian corporate history, and they are handing over to extremely capable leaders, so I wish them both all the best for the future.”

Notes to editors

Changes take effect during February 2020.

Given the impending Federal Court decision on the VHA/TPG Merger, the appointments are interim other than the combined Customer Operations function.

Barry joined VHA as General Manager Network Engineering and Planning in 2011. Since joining Barry has played a key leadership role at VHA, bringing strong network expertise with a significant involvement in delivering new technology in Australia. He has been a leader in major projects including introducing fixed broadband, the evolution of network virtualisation to ‘telco in the cloud’ and developing VHA’s path to 5G. Before VHA, Barry held a number of senior network roles in Ericsson and Hutchison Telecoms.
