Recycling old phone, tablet, modem and other electronic devices

It’s always best to recycle old electronic devices such as phones, tablets or modems so they don’t end up in landfill. Interestingly, over 95% of the materials used in electronic devices can be recovered and recycled to make new products.

How to recycle old phones, tablets, modems or other electronic devices.

The best way to recycle your old device is to take it to a Vodafone store. If your phone is in Good Working Order you may be able to trade it in. Otherwise our team will help you recycle it with Mobile Muster, the Australian mobile industry's official recycling scheme.

Here's the full list of devices that can be recycled through Vodafone.

  • Mobile phones
  • Mobile broadband devices such as modems
  • Tablets
  • Video game consoles
  • Smart home devices
  • Fixed-line modems
  • Fixed-line telephones
  • Smart watches
  • Accessories for all above devices

You can also recycle your device directly through Mobile Muster.

Why can’t I just throw my phone, tablet or modem out?

Phones, tablets or modems should never be thrown out. They're not biodegradable, and they contain some materials that can potentially harm the environment if not handled correctly at the end of the device's useful life.
