Using your own Compatible Modem with Vodafone Vision

Our Vodafone Vision plans require that you either purchase the TP-Link VX420-G2H modem with 4G Backup or bring your own Compatible Modem or router.

Here’s what you’ll need to know to use your own Compatible Modem or router with Vodafone Vision.

How to set up your own Compatible Modem

For Vision FTTB GFAST services (applicable for Vodafone Vision250 and Vision Max plans)

  1. Before you get started, locate the login details for your modem. These are generally printed on a sticker located on the back or underside of the device.
  2. Connect a computer or mobile device to your compatible modem. Connecting via an ethernet cable and laptop is ideal, but this can also be done over Wi-Fi.
  3. Access your modem configuration page by entering its default gateway in the address bar of your internet browser. Usually, this is 192.168.1.1, but it will also be written on the sticker on the device or in the user guide
  4. Log in by using the device’s username and password. This should be printed on your device, however, some modems use “admin” as the username and password.
  5. Some modems have a setup wizard or a quick setup menu for you to follow. If there is no such option, don’t worry.  Generally, you can find the Settings/Advanced Settings (or Network Settings) and enter the below details for your connection:

    Username Your contact email address
    Password Choose your own password
    Connection Type/Encapsulation PPPoE
  6. All other details can be left as the default settings(Vision FTTB-VDSL services, additional configuration is required, please see below for further instructions).
  7. It may take up to 2 minutes to get a connection.  If you have no connection after 2 minutes please reboot your modem or switch it off and on again.
  8. If you’re still having issues setting up your Compatible Modem, please contact your original modem provider for modem specific support information.
