If you currently have a Fibre to the Node (FTTN) or Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) connection, you may be eligible for a technology upgrade to Fibre to the Premises (FTTP). nbn® continues to expand Fibre Upgrade eligibility to new areas.

A standard installation is free if you are eligible for the nbn® Fibre Upgrade and on an eligible plan. NBN Co may charge you an additional fee to proceed with a non-standard installation.
All Vodafone Wi-Fi Hub™ modems will work with an upgraded Fibre connection.
If you already have an nbn® compatible modem, you don’t have to get a new modem. If you have a different BYO modem, it may work if it is less than 3 years old. Learn more about compatible modems.
If you’re using an older modem, like the Vodafone Wi-Fi HubTM 1.0, you will need to connect via the modem’s 5Ghz Wi-Fi connection. The Vodafone Wi-Fi Hub 1.0 only supports up to 100Mbps via ethernet.
The upgrade from FTTC/FTTN to Fibre typically takes 2–6 weeks, but it can take longer for more complicated installations. Once the new Fibre line and any other required equipment has been installed to your home, you will be able to access your new Fast Fibre connection.
Your existing connection will be active while your new Fibre line is being installed.
To minimise any issues, there will be a 6-day overlap period where your new Fibre service and your old service are connected at the same time. Your old service will then be automatically switched off and a credit will be added to your account, so you are not out-of-pocket for the overlap period.

The $0 Fibre Upgrade Offer allows eligible existing and new residential nbn® customers to upgrade to nbn® Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) (“Upgrade Offer”) when registering for selected nbn® plans (“Eligible Plans”).

Eligibility
The Upgrade Offer is only available at addresses determined to be eligible by NBN Co. Premises must already have an existing NBN FTTN or FTTC connection.
NBN Co determines which premises are eligible for upgrade and whether the required installation is standard or non-standard. The Upgrade Offer is only available for standard installation. Non-standard installation may be subject to additional costs charged by NBN Co.
The Eligible Plans for the Upgrade Offer are the Vodafone nbn® Home Fast, Vodafone nbn® Home Superfast and Vodafone nbn® Home Ultrafast (critical information summary).
Installation
The standard installation process will require either one or two visits, depending on what type of connection you currently have.
Standard installations are completed by NBN Co without charge to you. NBN Co may require you to pay additional charges to proceed with a non-standard installation. Non-standard installation includes where the installation is unusual, complex, difficult, or there are safety issues, or where the installation is to a point that is not the closest and most direct path from the street.

Installation timeline
NBN Co advises that a standard installation should be complete within two to six weeks, depending on location and technology type. These service levels are provided for information only and are not guaranteed by NBN Co.
Service activation and billing
While you are waiting for your upgrade installation, we will provide you with an interim pre-fibre service (critical information summary). You will be registered for this interim service at the same time as registering for the Upgrade Offer.
As your interim service is on a nbn® FTTN/C connection, we’ll inform you of your maximum attainable line speed for your service once we receive this information from nbn after activation. If the maximum line speed at your address doesn’t support the speed tier of your interim plan, we’ll apply a credit of $20 to your account. As your service is being upgraded to FTTP, no plan downgrade or cancellation option will be available to you in respect of your interim plan. This maximum attainable line speed check only pertains to your interim pre-fibre plan and will have no impact upon completion of the upgrade to Fibre.
Your new nbn® FTTP service can be activated after installation has been successfully completed. Your existing service will be automatically cancelled six days after your new nbn® FTTP service is activated.

Following activation of the new nbn® FTTP service, a $20 credit will be applied to your account. This is to refund you for the six-day period during which you were connected to both your interim pre-fibre service and your new nbn® FTTP service.
Modem requirements
A compatible high-speed modem is required to achieve optimal performance with your new nbn® FTTP service. You can find information about the technical requirements your modem must meet here. For all customers, the actual speeds you experience will vary due to many factors which are explained here.
If you’re using the Vodafone Wi-Fi Hub 1.0 and change your plan to nbn Home Superfast or nbn Home Ultrafast you will need to connect via the device’s 5Ghz Wi-Fi connection. The Vodafone Wi-Fi Hub 1.0 only supports up to 100Mbps speeds via ethernet.
The Upgrade Offer is available with either a BYO Modem plan or a 4G Backup plan which includes a modem. The modem is $0 when you stay connected for 24 months. Vodafone will cover the monthly charge ($7.50 per month) for each month you stay connected. If you leave early, you’ll need to pay $7.50/mth for each remaining month. The max modem cost is $180.
Vodafone NBN Fibre upgrade
Discount available to new and existing customers (‘Eligible Customers’) who register for Fibre upgrade and sign up to a Vodafone Home Fast, Superfast or Ultrafast plan (‘Eligible Plans’) between 01/07/24 and 30/09/2024. Discount includes: $10/mth off monthly plan fees (monthly access fees) on Eligible Plans for 6 months. Discount will be applied as a recurring monthly credit for 6 months after Fibre installation and is forfeited if you cancel or change your plan within 6 months. After 6 months, your monthly plan fees will be charged at the undiscounted monthly price at that point of time. This offer is available in conjunction with other in-market offers, if applicable.
