This support article will give you key information about your Vodafone nbn® installation.
All nbn® installation activity will be carried out by nbn co and may impact your existing fixed broadband or landline services.
There are different installation processes depending on the nbn® technology at your address. You can check the technology type at your address by using the address check on our nbn® plans page.
Here’s an overview of the different processes.
Technology type | Installation process |
---|---|
Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) |
nbn® will connect a fibre optic line all the way to your premises. This may require an appointment for an nbn® technician to install equipment inside and outside the installation address. Someone over the age of 18 will need to be present at the premises for the installation appointment. |
Fibre to the Node (FTTN) |
nbn® will connect a nearby fibre node to your premises with the existing copper network. Usually, this fibre node will be housed in a street cabinet. This may require an appointment for an nbn® technician to install equipment inside the installation address. Someone over the age of 18 will need to be present at the premises for the installation appointment. |
Fibre to the Building (FTTB) |
nbn will® connect a fibre node to your premises using the network technology in your building. Usually, this fibre node will be located in the communications room of your building. This may require an appointment for an nbn® technician to install equipment inside the building, but not in your installation address. Someone over the age of 18 will need to be present at the premises for the installation appointment. |
Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) |
nbn® will connect the nearest fibre node to your premises via a cable network. This may require an appointment for an nbn® technician to install equipment inside the installation address. Someone over the age of 18 will need to be present at the premises for the installation appointment. In some cases, you will be sent a separate connection device by nbn® that you can install yourself by connecting it to your existing socket and power outlet. The installation process will differ depending on whether you are installing with a pay TV or cable internet or without a pay TV or cable internet. |
Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) |
nbn® will connect nearby fibre to your premises with the existing copper network. Generally, the fibre will be located outside your premises within the nearby pit. This may require an appointment for an nbn® technician to install equipment inside the installation address. Someone over the age of 18 will need to be present at the premises for the installation appointment. If you are not the owner of the property, you will also need permission from the owner or strata manager for installation. In most cases, you will be sent a separate connection device by nbn® which you can install yourself by following the included instructions and connecting it to your existing telephone socket and power outlet. |
