The Vodafone 4G network

4G is the fourth generation of mobile network technology and offers improved mobile data speeds and higher quality voice calls.

How to access the 4G network

To access Vodafone’s 4G network, you’ll need:

  • A 4G compatible device.
  • A 4G compatible SIM.
  • To be in an area with 4G coverage.

When you’re on the 4G network, '4G' (otherwise known as 'LTE') will be displayed in the status bar of your screen next to the signal bars. If you have 4G switched on in your device’s network settings, it will automatically pick up the 4G signal. While we continue to support you on our best ever 4G network, since mid-2020 Vodafone’s 5G network is progressively being rolled out to selected areas in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra and Perth.

How to check what network you’re using.

The best way to find what network you’re using is by checking the signal icon displayed in the status bar of your device. This is generally at the top of the screen next to your signal bars.

You can use our coverage checker to find what networks are available in your area.
